When we opened applications for the inaugural Unspoken Smiles Fellowship, over 120 people applied. From that incredible pool, we’ve selected 7 Fellows who represent the Americas.
Unspoken Smiles Fellowship is an empowerment program tailored for young women in their early 20s to late 30s, to play a critical/key/vital role in oral disease prevention in their communities, use the skills learned and resources to advocate for and advance the Unspoken Smiles’ mission, while also honing their personal, professional, and leadership goals. As the Fellowship program grows, these young women will not just impact their individual families and communities, but their countries as well.
Programs like this are the future of sustainable humanitarian efforts, arming developing countries with the proper training and guidance to take development into their own hands.
Dentistry is quickly evolving, and women are proving to be one of the major catalysts as they take change into their own hands. Dedicated to unlocking new thinking, rethinking their purposes and translating tangible ideas into actions, the 2020 Unspoken Smiles Fellowship class brings together a community of inspiring and innovative women whose powerful voices are at the forefront of shaping the future of dentistry defining 2020 and beyond.
Teaching unemployed, inner-city young women the skills to become successful in life is at the core of the Unspoken Smiles Fellowship program. The Fellowship includes a full ecosystem of training and support for aspiring young women to help them build professional and technical skills as community oral health care professionals, serving as a bridge from poverty to sustainable employment.
